​Domestic Classes - Rules of Entry

  • Open to all Members, their families and all persons connected with the Members' Farms

  • All produce to be made by exhibitors

  • Would exhibitors please state forenames as well as surnames on entry forms

  • Please note that trade names on jars and lids are unacceptable

  • All entries will be auctioned unless otherwise stated

  • Please complete and return the exhibitors entry form at least 2 weeks prior to Ploughing Match

CLASS 60   SIX NEW LAID HENS EGGS in cardboard carton

CLASS 61   VICTORIA SANDWICH - not iced jam filled only

CLASS 62   FRUIT CAKE

PRIZE   THE JUNE LIDSTONE MEMORIAL CUP

Made in a 7"- 8" cake tin. Recipe — 8oz butter or margarine, 4oz soft Brown Sugar, 1 Cup cold water, 16oz mixed dried fruit, 2oz glace cherries, 1 tsp. Bicarb of soda. Place all of the above ingredients in a medium to large saucepan. Heat gently and allow to simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and allow to cool for 10 mins.

Beat 3 eggs and 8oz self raising flour into the mixture alternately with a wooden spoon. It will appear very liquid but this is correct. Turn into the lined cake tin. Decorate the top with peeled almonds and bake for 1 — 1 hrs at 130-150 deg C. Or 250-300 deg F. When cooked allow to cool before turning out of the tin.

CLASS 74   POT OF FRUIT JELLY - not less than 6oz .(e.g. redcurrant, mint etc)

CLASS 75   POT OF MARMALADE - not less than 12oz

CLASS 76   JAR OF CHUTNEY OR RELISH

CLASS 77   JAR OF PICKLED PRODUCE - in a screw top jar

CLASS 78   A BOTTLE OF HOMEMADE FRUIT LIQUEUR
